Our Mission
Our staff has more than 60 years experience reporting for major daily newspapers. We take pride in making every edition newsy, relevant and informative. That’s how we’ve captured the hearts and minds of an affluent and educated audience. And that’s what makes us a good advertising medium for any business trying to reach this audience.
Unlike national magazines, which focus on the .001 percent of all golfers who play professionally, we focus on the other 99.999 percent of golfers who simply play for the love of the game. We put ourselves in the shoes of our readers. We know their wants and needs. We cover the stories they want covered. We ask the questions they want asked. We answer the questions they want answered. Our mandate is to provide readers information they want and need, but can’t get anywhere else. To be compelling. To be professional. To be worth picking up. To be worth reading. To be worth saving.
Our readers are affluent, educated, savvy. Their lives are filled to the brim with careers, families and golf. Free time is precious, and they don’t have time to waste reading a magazine that offers no value. We are awed that 50,000 busy, successful Dallas people devote more than an hour of their lives each month to read Texas Links Magazines. We don’t take that responsibility lightly. We have to earn that privilege every month. We’re simply all Dallas, all golf, all the time. We like who we are, and our readers do, too.
Doing things our way is hard work. It means covering news and events on deadline. It means holding the presses to get a late-breaking story. At least a few times, it has meant scrapping an entire edition a few days before press deadline and creating a new one to do justice to a late-breaking story. Our reward comes in the satisfaction of having loyal readers who anticipate each edition and having our stories be the talk of the town for the next month.
